Psychology Team, Salford Learning Disability Service

What we offer

Loss is a significant issue for individuals with learning disabilities. We offer support, advice and therapy should issues with bereavement and loss persist for adults with learning disabilities, and provide support to access mainstream services when relevant.

We deliver training on bereavement in learning disabilities for carers and also to mainstream staff/carers, regarding adaptations for an LD population.

We provide bereavement consultations for staff and resources on bereavement and loss that are available to the team can be loaned to staff and families. We also run a bereavement group for individuals with learning disabilities.

Criteria – Adults aged 18+ with a learning disability.

One to one support: Therapeutic/Psychoeducational and/or at facilitated ‘closed’ group (provided by qualified practitioners and trained facilitators).
